BROOKINGS OREGON

Jul. 9th We arrived in Brookings, hoping to stay at the Harris Beach RV Park, it was full. They told us about Alfred Loeb State Park up the Chetco River. We found a spot there and it was very nice, much warmer up there than only 8 miles down to the ocean! We did a lot of exploring and found the Chetco Museum with lots of interesting facts about the area. There is a 130 ft. tall Monterey Cypress Tree in front of the Blake House, built in 1857. Then there is Pelican Bay Lighthouse, one of only two privately owned in Oregon. Not allowed to go inside. We spent 6 days in the area and had lots of fun. A couple of the pictures are from the Azelea Park, which was finished blooming but still very pretty. On Jul. 14th it was very hot in the a.m. when we left the MH, so we left the air conditioning on. When we got back it had kicked a breaker. It was 93 outside and 97 inside! Miserable, like LV summer with no air. Buddy said it is because of the Parks old electrical system, not enough amps when there are so many people using it. We had no idea it got so hot on the coast!!
